Found A House We Liked In Bay.. already sold

Posted in home by monty on March 30, 2009

Yesterday we drove out to the west side and looked at 5 houses.  We liked the one we saw in Bay Village but the taxes were high (8k/yr).  Today we found out that it sold.  The owners accepted an offer today.  Bummer.  We found another one that has good photos in the same neighborhood in Bay.  Hopefully we can get out there to see it soon.. before it goes too.

We had an open house yesterday and 7 people showed up so that was good.  My realtor sent an email that made it sound like one of those people might make an offer on our house.  Fingers crossed .. hope its a good one.

Night Out With Ryan and Bret

Posted in entertainment, family, friends by monty on March 25, 2009

We had a night out with the kids last weekend.  We went out to eat by Ryan’s house and then went back to his house for the evening.  The kids played with Lauren.  The WII kept them entertained most of the night.  The adults played LCR and had a bunch of Texas Hold-Em poker tournaments.  It was a good time.  We got home very, very late and the kids actually slept in late the next day.  The kids did manage to leave 3 of their DS games at Ryan’s house :(

L-C-R Dice Game

Posted in entertainment by monty on March 25, 2009

We got this dice game from Drug Mart called L-C-R after Bret turned us on to it.  It is a very simple game that involves rolling the dice and trading chips left, center and right to other players or to the pot.  The last person at the end with chips is the winner.

Z Has Strep Throat

Posted in family, health by monty on March 25, 2009

The day before yesterday Z woke up and threw up before school.  He had a low fever.  Yesterday he woke up and felt fine with no fever so we sent him to school.  When he got home after school he had a 102 fever so we took him to the ER.  He has strep.  He started antibiotics yesterday so he should be able to go back to school tomorrow.  Today he seems to be feeling fine.  He has played battleship and checkers with D today.

More Home Showings

Posted in home by monty on March 25, 2009

We had a showings on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday and have one planned for tonight (Wednesday).  It stinks for the kids to basically not be able to play in the basement when they get home from school because we need to keep the house clean before we leave.  It seems to me like the season is starting to pick up.

Tax Prep

Posted in finance, other by monty on March 25, 2009

I’ve been working on my taxes in the evening hours over the last week or two.  Preparing for taxes is getting easier each year but it is still a pain.  I wish my credit card companies would provide a yearly csv export so I didn’t have to go download the statements each month.  My previous credit card company offered that but they were purchased by another company that doesn’t offer that.  The same goes for my bank accounts.  PayPal offers an annual export of all information so why can’t banks and credit card companies?

Talent Site About To Get Critical Mass

Posted in business by monty on March 17, 2009

We have worked out an arrangement with a talent agency to pre-load talent on the site.  Tonight I began work on the import script that will take the exported data they sent us and import it into our database so it will appear on our site.  Once I’m finished we’ll have a good pool of professional talent in the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and Louisville markets.  Having this talent on the site will make it possible for ad agencies and photographers to use the site to book talent and will also give other talent a reason to sign up – they will be able to tell that people are actually using the site.  I hope that it will be enough.. that we will have the critical mass required be successful.

Beautiful Weather

Posted in family by monty on March 17, 2009

Today was absolutely beautiful.  The kids got home and we did homework and then went outside for a change.  They played basketball for bit and then we went to the little park in our neighborhood.  It was so nice out that I took my coat off :)   Man, I missed the sun.  I hope the weather keeps up and that the snow is gone until next year!

Met Up With Old Coworkers

Posted in friends by monty on March 17, 2009

Yesterday I drove up to meet with some friends from my previous job.  Becky keeps us all in touch by organizing meetings every month or two.  I had to skip out on our last meeting because I was rushing to get ready to leave for a trip to Paris for work.  This time we met up and chatted for a while at the Fox and Hound restaurant.  Thanks Becky for keeping us all in touch.
