Low flow shower head
I was in the market for a new shower head so I went to Lowes. I learned that the average shower head flow is 2.5 gallons per minute. You can get them with lower flow rates but 2.5 GPM is the standard. I have a 1.75 GMP showerhead on order from some website. I wonder if the reduced flow will be noticeable. All this because our water bill shot up.. later I found that they had under-charged me on the previous bill.
Hung Out With Scott
Yesterday after work I went and visited with my friend Scott. We ate and ran a couple errands and watched half of the Celtics/Pistons game on his nice big flat screen television. I was going a little stir crazy so it felt good to get out of the house for a little while.
C++ Tutor
I guess all my work tutoring my friend in C++ paid off. My friend told me she got an A- in the class.
Bret Got A New Car
My friend Bret stopped by yesterday on his way to his tattoo removal treatment in a new car. It is the same make/model (Subaru Forester) as his last car but new. He did a buy back with the dealer that let him shed his 50k miles for a new car with a much lower interest rate. In the end it was almost a wash. Nice car.
More new homes
This week there have been 5 or 6 new homes that just became available that we are interested in seeing. We have plans to see them in the next week or so. I guess some people wait until near the end of the school year to list their homes. Some of them look promising (east side of town so don’t get too excited friends and family). I’ll keep you posted.
Sister buying a townhouse
I talked to my sister yesterday and she is trying to buy a townhouse in Tremont. She put an offer in on it and is waiting to hear back to see if she got it or if they want to negotiate. It is a ~2000 square foot townhouse that is 5 yrs old. I hope she gets it.
Bat To The Head
Yesterday Z took a baseball bat to the head. M was throwing the ball up and hitting it in the back yard. I heard Z crying from my office. D was cooking dinner. He got hit on the follow through but I wasn’t able to get enough information from the boys about how hard it was. He has a lump near his left eye which we iced right after. I was worried to put him to bed. I checked on him last night a few hours after bed. Yesterday and today he seems fine. Scary stuff.
Graduation
Z is going to be graduating from preschool this week. Next year he’ll be off to all-day kindergarten. That means that both kids will be in all day school next year. Wow. I can’t believe there won’t be kids running around our house all day long! I’m sure D can’t wait to not have to shuttle kids to and from preschool every day. I hope Z’s graduation is a cute as M’s was last year. The kids had caps and gowns and were very proud.
Work Has Been Crazy Lately
Lately it feels like my team is running in all directions. We have a release looming while QA tests our work. We have a 2nd release only a couple weeks away for our biggest customer. We have performance issues to solve, bugs to resolve, testing to do, integration testing environment to setup and trips overseas (did I mention that I got my passport recently). I hope things calm down and we can get everything under control soon. I’m not in on the management discussions about priorities and resources so it is totally possible that our boss has a plan for it all. He’s a pretty good manager so there is a good chance that it is all under control and I’ve just been too buried to see anything except the next crisis.
Alone With The Boys
Today I spent the day alone with the boys. D went to Buffalo to be with her family because her uncle passed away in the last two weeks. She went with her brother and his wife, sister and dad. She left early and still isn’t home (nearing midnight).
The boys and I rented Firehouse Dog the movie and ordered Pizza Hut (mom doesn’t like Pizza Hut). We played the board game trouble and they rode their bikes and scooters around outside before it rained (while I mowed the lawn). It was a pretty good day.. I had fun and I think they did too.
